Guide
A studio for Ukrainian grade 1 (the NUS textbook «Getting ready to subtract 6, 7, 8, 9» and «Subtracting 6, 7, 8, 9»). What is left if you subtract from the sum of two numbers a number equal to one of the addends? The other addend: 6 + 4 − 4 = 6.
To subtract 6, 7, 8 or 9, work in three steps. 1. Write the minuend as a sum of convenient addends. 2. Subtract from the sum the number equal to one of the addends; the other addend is left. 3. Name the result.
For example: 9 − 6 = (3 + 6) − 6 = 3. Here the minuend 9 is written as the sum 3 + 6, because one addend equals the subtrahend 6. In the tasks you build such a line from cards: you place the numbers and change the sign + or − by tapping it.
