Guide
A studio for Ukrainian grade 4 (the NUS textbook sections on written division and «We divide numbers ending in zeros»). When we divide by 10 with a remainder, we bundle the ones in tens. The number of whole tens is the incomplete quotient and what is left is the remainder: 32 : 10 = 3 (rem. 2).
The rule for writing: to divide with a remainder by 10 (by 100), cover one (two) digits on the right. The number left on the left is the incomplete quotient, the covered digits are the remainder. So 563 : 10 = 56 (rem. 3) and 834 : 100 = 8 (rem. 34).
To divide a number ending in zeros by a number with zeros, strike out the same number of zeros in both: 46,380 : 60 = 4638 : 6. The remainder is always less than the divisor.
