Repeating and number patterns

Shapes and numbers that follow a rule. Find the pattern, continue it and fix it.

Guide

This studio is for Years 2–3 (ages 7–9). The sentences are short; read them aloud if your child needs it. The small picture above each mission shows what to do.

In a repeating pattern, one chunk comes again and again. We call it the unit of repeat. Children should find the unit and use it to continue the pattern.

To place a shape, first tap an empty space, then tap a shape underneath. The chosen space has a thick outline.

In growing and number patterns, each figure or number comes from the one before by a rule, for example “add 4 each time”. Numbers and figures run from left to right.

Ask your child “How did you know?”. Saying the rule in their own words is the heart of spotting patterns.
