Logic puzzles
Solve brain-teasers: fill a table from clues, find knights and liars, pour water between buckets and find who did it.
- Russia: grade 5
Guide
In the Russian programme logic puzzles ("tasks of quick thinking") start in primary school and are worked in Grades 5-6: a table of clues, knights and liars, pouring, who said what. No calculation is needed: the child reasons and rules out what is impossible.
The main tool is elimination. Cross out what the clues forbid and one possibility is left. In knights-and-liars puzzles, suppose someone tells the truth and check for a contradiction.
Choose an answer in every row. A wrong answer gets a hint about the clue that was missed. Check each choice against every clue.
