In the UK we use pounds (£) and pence (p). 100p make £1. Every coin and note (banknote) shows how much it is worth.
Ten 1p coins are worth the same as one 10p coin. Ten 10p coins are worth the same as £1. Just like ones, tens and hundreds!
The number of coins doesn't matter. What they are worth matters. One coin can be worth more than lots of coins.
To make an amount, start with the biggest coin that fits, then see how much is left.
