Fractions of units of measure
What part of a metre is 6 cm, and what part of a year is 3 months? Change a fraction of a unit into smaller units and compare it with a named number. Ukrainian grade 4, the section «We study fractions».

A studio for Ukrainian grade 4 (the NUS textbook, part 2, «We study fractions»). 1 cm is one hundredth of a metre: 1 cm = 1100 m. So 6 cm is six hundredths of a metre: 6 cm = 6100 m. 1 month is 112 of a year and 3 months are 312 of a year.
To write a fraction of a unit in smaller units, first find one part. For example, 1 min has 60 s. One sixth of a minute is 60 : 6 = 10 s and four sixths are 10 · 4 = 40 s.
In the first two tasks type the fraction in the boxes: the numerator in the top one, the denominator in the bottom. In the third fill in the table. In the last, choose the comparison sign.
