This studio follows early-years counting and Year 2 statistics. Read the sentences aloud if your child is still learning to read.
tally marks: one line for each thing. The fifth line goes across the other four. You can add and take away with tallies too: to add, draw new lines; to take away, rub some out.
Sometimes an exact number is not needed. We round to the nearest ten: 38 is nearer to 40 and 33 is nearer to 30.
In a tens pictogram one picture stands for 10. Half a picture is 5. Charts run from left to right.
